AUGUST NEWS 2017-18
To all those who were able to attend "Meet the Teacher" event at OHE on Friday, August 19th, I want to thank you for coming. I was so excited to meet my new students and their parents! I am going to have a wonderful group of fourth graders this year! I am also looking forward to our first parent/teacher conferences of the year in October. It's going to be a great year and we're already off to a terrific start!!!
The first week of school will definitely go by very quickly. After the first week, we will be off and running. I am so excited about my two classes this year...what a terrific group of fourth graders!
HOMEROOM PARENT__________________
Thanks so very much to Brenda Lanza and Betsy Macdonald who have graciously offered to chair as our homeroom parents for our fourth grade class this year...MANY THANKS Brenda and Betsy!!!
Back-to-School night at OHE will be on Thursday, August 31st from 6:00 to 7:00 pm. I am excited to have the opportunity to give all of my parents a brief outline of our school year and have the chance to meet everyone. Thank you for taking time out of your very busy schedules to come and visit with me in the classroom!
FRIENDLY REMINDERS_____________________________
Parents, please do not forget to sign the Student Planner daily. I will check their planner Monday-Friday, so make sure your child brings the planner & red daily folder back to school every Monday (or Tues. if Monday is a holiday) and throughout the remainder of the week. Feel free to write notes to me in the daily planner...I may be writing notes in the planner to you on occasion as well. In addition, please make sure to sign your child's yellow expectation chart in the red take home folder. This chart should be signed by a parent over the weekend and returned to school signed on Monday. The Nightly Reading Log is another important paper that should be signed over the weekend and return to school for a reading grade on Monday.
ARRIVAL BY 7:30 a.m.
Please try and have your child at school every day by 7:30. This will allow time for your child to get ready to start our day which begins right after morning announcements at 7:45. Tardy bell rings at 7:45...all students must be present in the classroom when the bell rings. Otherwise, they will be counted as tardy.
SCHOOL SUPPLIES
Please make sure to have your child bring in all the necessary school supplies at the beginning of our school year. Thank you!
Whenever your child runs out of a school supply item or does not have an important item at school (like a ruler for instance), I will send home a note with your child OR have your child record in their planner what supply item(s) they need. Please try to replenish any needed supplies as soon as possible as all materials are used throughout our very busy school day.
